Good morning! I am delighted and honored to preside at the opening ceremony of the fourth International Cooperation Summit for CEOs & Provincial Governors and Mayors.

First, on behalf of the organizing committee, I’d like to express our sincere thanks to all the officials and distinguished guests present here.

Thanks to the support from all of you, the International Cooperation Summit has been playing an very positive and important role in building a long-term effective mechanism for the international cooperation and exchange between business leaders and government officials.

With Chengdu as the host city, the summit this year has very special significance. As you know, on May 12th, Wenchuan county of Sichuan was striken by a devastating earthquake. However, with the efforts of the local people and the support from all over the world, led by the Sichuan Provincial Government, Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, the Party Central Committee and the State Council of China, the reconstruction work of the quake-hit area has been fully launced. Much progress has been made. 

Today, we are here in the city that has survivied the disaster. We are here with the courage to face up to any difficulties or challenges and the sincerity to build enhanced international cooperation with joint efforts, all of which have tremendous significance in the context of the global financial crisis.

As you know, the theme for this summit is Enhanced Cooperation in Asia Pacific, Sustainable Win-win for the World. The sub-forums will involve the following topics: Opportunities for the Transfer of the Global Manufacturing Industry and Service Industry; Highlights and acts of International Cooperation in West China after 30 years of reform and opening-up; and a Special Investment Project, namely, Reconstructing Sichuan with the Help of International Business Community.

When I received the name list of our distinguished guests, I was surprised to find that so many elites from all over the world came all the way here for this grand event.
