Chris Woodward, VP and MD of Asia Pacific of Ryder System Inc.
Good morning, Your Excellency Mr. Dominique de Villepin, Former Frime Minister of France, Honorable General Christian Quesnot, respectable Mr. Guo Gengmao, Acting Governor of Henan Province, Mr. Wang Wenchao, Secretary of Zhengzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, Mr. Zhao Jiancai, Mayor of Zhengzhou, and dear leaders and participating representatives.
Our company provides logistics outsourcing solutions. Since we provide logistics services worldwide, particularly for some manufacturers and manufacturing industries, we provide corresponding logistics analysis and ensure the most efficient logistics solutions to the enterprises. Logistics outsourcing began in North America, and grew up in Western Europe 10 or 15 years ago. Now it has been very prosperous, especially in China. Because a large number of enterprises in the manufacturing sector need outsourcing and we have a lot of outsourcing models to transfer human resources from countries of high cost to countries of lower cost. For the majority of countries, especially the United States and Western Europe, they will probably spend 10 percent of GDP on transportation and other activities. However, such developing countries as China and India might spend 20%. A lot of the expenditures are very unscientific. We only cooperate with enterprises to provide highly effective and specific solutions and IT solutions in particular.
One of the issues enterprises are most concerned about is how to estimate the cost. Under the impact of oil prices, some Asian countries have begun outsourcing. Perhaps their most important consideration is how to balance the expenditure and cost. But I may put customers aside and elaborate on the internal aspects. Of course, we will do what we can to help our customers save their costs, which will make us more effective internally and improve our efficiency. In the past five years, data analysis is our core service, especially for information-based freight transport, as well as global customer services. Of course we also have a number of freight services and forwarding services, but in terms of IT, we mainly provide corresponding solutions and might train IT personnel as well. In the past few years, we have opened different offices in a lot of places in China. In this sense, Many of our clients are large manufacturers and production enterprises occupying important positions especially in China and Asia. In India many of the traditional manufacturing industries have declined. Now, we would very much like to bring solutions to China, because we want to build capacities.
We will look for relevant marketing staff for cooperation. Since the costs in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are very high, we set up offices in Nanjing. This is our new strategy in the field of management. Of course, I also know that in the IT industry, many cities in China have begun to create better environment to attract foreign investors, increase their outsourcing opportunities and strengthen their IT capacities. Sound development will attract more foreign investment.
Finally, I'd like to convey my thanks to Asia-Pacific CEO Association, International Outsourcing Center, Henan Provincial Government and Zhengzhou Municipal Government for your invitation. Thank you! |
