In order to thoroughly implement the strategy of reinvigorating China through culture, promote the national cultural soft power and accelerate the construction of the Silk Road Economic Zone, the 2nd International Culture Industry Summit (ICIS 2013) and the 6th Gansu Cultural Expo were held from September 6th to 9th, 2013 in Lanzhou, Gansu. The summit was supported by the Ministry of Culture of China and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, jointly sponsored by APCEO, Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Gansu Government and co-organized by the Propaganda Department of Gansu Provincial Party Committee, Asia-Pacific Fortune (Beijing) Economic Consulting Center, Gansu Provincial Department of Commerce and Department of Culture, Gansu Provincial Bureau of Radio, Film and Television, Press and Publication Bureau of Gansu Province, Foreign Affairs Office of Gansu Provincial Government, Gansu Provincial Government Information Office and Communist Youth League Gansu Committee.
The ICIS is a pageant which integrates the resources of culture industry from all over the world, focuses on the development of global culture industry, promotes the development of global culture industry and international cooperation and helps build up new economic growth points in countries. With the theme of “Development of Culture Industry and International Cooperation”, the summit consists of project signing, keynote speeches, information release, roundtable meetings, theme forums and industrial visits.
The summit was inaugurated in Lanzhou on the morning of September 7th, with Wang Sanyun, Secretary of Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Congress attending the ceremony and announcing the opening of the summit. Liu Weiping, the Vice-secretary of Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Governor of Gansu Province and Ziad Aldrees, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Permanent Delegation of Saudi Arabia to UNESCO, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ouyang Jian, the Vice-secretary of Gansu Provincial Party Committee.
Other Chinese guests including Xiang Zhaolun, Vice-minister of the Ministry of Culture of China and Lian Ji, Member of the Standing Committee of Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department of Gansu Provincial Party Committee, also attended the opening ceremony.
Other international guests attending the opening ceremony included Zheng Xiongwei, renowned International Economist, Global Executive Chairman of APCEO, Allen I-chun Wu, Chairman of Asian American Republican National Federation, Tumenjargal Magaadai, Vice Minister of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Mongolia, Colin Alexander Alfred Fagan, Minister of Local Government and Community Development of Jamaica, Naeem Anwar, Minister (trade) of Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi (India), Maria Jose Nicholas, Member of Senate Spain , Mario Magalhaes Ferreira, Foreign Affairs Committee Member of Portuguese Parliament and Barbara Saromines-Ganne, Chairperson of SFCA Arts Commission. Other guests included senior management from Fortune 500 and Forbes 2000 companies, listed companies and renowned cultural companies represented by Google, Microsoft, New York Times, Deloitte, Teck Resources and Air New Zealand, representatives from prestigious universities such as University of Chicago and University of Rome, heads of famous international organizations and industrial associations as well as experts and professors from research institutes.
On the afternoon of September 7th, six guests from different countries were invited to deliver keynote speeches under the summit theme of Development of Culture Industry and International Cooperation, presided over by Zhang Guangzhi, Vice-governor of Gansu Province. In the summit, Professor Zheng Xiongwei, renowned International Economist, Global Executive Chairman of APCEO released the 2013 International Cultural Industry Development Report and Information.
On the morning of September 8th, the roundtable meeting and theme forum of the 2nd ICIS were simultaneously held on the third and first floor of Gansu International Conference Center. The roundtable meeting and theme forum were moderated by Zheng Xiongwei, Global Executive Chairman of APCEO and Zhang Jianchang, Deputy Minister of the Propaganda Department of Gansu Provincial Party Committee respectively. |
