Distinguished guests ladies and gentlemen:
First I would like to thank you for your kind invitation. I am very happy to attend this summit and make a speech here.
I would also like to congratulate the APCEO association on your continuous efforts to establish this long-term and stable cooperation mechanism. My thanks also go to Wuxi municipal government. Thank you for inviting so many guests as well as me to this beautiful place.
I would like to speak a few words today to share my opinion with you about China.
The first time when I came to China was in 1978 when China for the first time carried out the policy of opening up to the out world. Later I came here for many times during my office. I have witnessed China’s development in recent years, which few countries in the world can match. China now enjoys an economic growth of 9% to 10% annually. The CEOs are playing an important role under the support of local governors and mayors.
I would like to put out several suggestions due to the limited time.
First is the immigrant labor force from rural areas to urban places, which has brought out many social problems. What China needs to do under this circumstance is to build a social welfare system
Second is environmental protection. At the beginning of opening up the government ignored this issue. So the environment in China today is not very optimistic. The government has to carry out relative measures in environmental protection.
Third is a peaceful environment for economic development. China has to handle the relationship with major developed countries especially the U.S.A. properly. A peaceful environment is very important for future development and social progress.
Forth is the role our CEOs play in Asia-Pacific region. China has paid much attention to setting up a long-term stable and effective cooperation mechanism between CEOs and governmental leaders. This summit is a good opportunity for the exchanges of opinion and cooperation.
Thank you again for inviting me to the beautiful city. I wish this conference a great success. Thank you. |
